Let's Keep Music Alive!
Hello all yee Dirty Fans!!!
The Dirty T's are having a very busy month. Already we have had a few gigs that went really well for us. But I must say that it was a bit disappointing to play with bands who don't bring anyone to their show. I mean, what's the point of putting on a show, if the only people you are playing for are the other bands. Kind of redundant don't you think? I admit, we are also guilty when it comes to early weekday shows. Perhaps being from the American and UK music scenes, we have a different perspective. Live underground music in Japan is becoming a more and more minor form of entertainment. That being the case, it's most important to support and network with your local bands. Promote shows and encourage fans to support as well.
Other bands are not your enemy, and if you feel threatened by other bands, this isn't the right activity for you. Go play baseball or something. Japan, your music scene is dying, and you are letting it die a slow and quiet death. Make some noise, make some fans, make a party. Our events compete with laser light computer DJs which bring in hundreds of fans. If live indie music is to survive in Japan, you have to take the bull by the horns and join together to make a "music scene". The only thing stopping you is you.
On a lighter note, The Dirty T's have 3 more shows this month, Earthdom in Shin-Okubo is a great live house that we have recently started playing at. We will be there on April 22nd. Then the next day we will be at What the Dickens in Ebisu, which is always a great time. And finally on the 30th, we will be at Heaven's Door in Sangenjyaya on April 30th. So plenty of chances to see us in action.
So, until next time.
KEEP IT DIRTY!!!
